We're excited to announce a new testing opportunity for all 11th-grade students. This fall, every junior will take the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test)! With testing season just around the corner, here’s what you need to know:

PSAT/NMSQT Test Day Details:

• Date: Thursday, October 24, 2024
• Location: WBHS Aux Gym
• Arrival Time: 7:30 a.m.
• Test Start Time: 8:00 a.m.

We will share more details about test day expectations soon. We're thrilled about this opportunity for our students, and we can’t wait to see them shine! In the meantime, you might be wondering what the PSAT/NMSQT is and why all 11th graders will be taking it. Here's why this is a fantastic opportunity:

• See where they are and set a target: You’ll get details on the exact skills and knowledge they need to focus on, while they have plenty of time to improve. They can also use their score from the PSAT/NMSQT, along with some research about their college and career goals, to set their own personal target SAT score. Historically, students who took the PSAT/NMSQT scored better on the SAT, on average, than those who didn’t take the test.

• Find out about their AP Potential: Students who take an AP® course are better positioned to succeed in college. Your child may not realize that they’re ready to take college level courses and that they have the potential to succeed. Using their personalized view of AP Potential , found in their score report, they’ll get recommendations for courses that may be a good fit for them.

• Enter the National Merit Scholarship Program: Students who take the PSAT/NMSQT and meet other program entry requirements specified in the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide will enter the National Merit® Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) Visit NMSC’s website at www.nationalmerit.org for more information.

• Help pay for college: Taking the PSAT/NMSQT gives your child the chance to access over $300 million in other scholarship opportunities.

• Connect to their future: When your child takes the PSAT/NMSQT, they’ll be asked for their mobile phone number so they can download the free BigFuture School™ mobile app and have their PSAT/NMSQT scores delivered right to their phone. They’ll get customized career information and guidance about planning and paying for college. Depending on their school or district, they can use the Connections feature, which lets them here from nonprofit colleges, scholarships and educational organizations interested in them—without having to share any personal information.

Each spring, 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students across the country participate in a series of standardized tests. Here’s a breakdown of the tests each grade takes:

More specific information about how testing will be handled at WBHS in the spring is forthcoming. Expect updates beginning February 2025. At that time, we will send out electronic correspondence to you and your student’s email address on file, providing all pertinent information related to testing.

• PSAT 10: All 10th Grade Students
• ACT WorkKeys: All 11th Grade Students
• Asynchronous Day: 9th & 12th Grade Students

April 14-15, 2025

• M-STEP Science: Administered during all 11th Grade Science classes

April 16, 2025

• Makeup Test Date for PSAT 9, PSAT 10, and SAT with Essay

April 21-22, 2025

• M-STEP Social Studies: Administered during all 11th Grade Social Studies classes

April 24, 2025

• Makeup Test Date for ACT WorkKeys

April 29, 2025 & May 2, 2025

• M-STEP Makeup Testing during Advisory periods

As we approach these test dates, additional details will be sent to staff, students, and parents via email to keep everyone informed. Please check your email regularly for updates. Thank you for your partnership in this year’s testing administration.

If you believe you need testing accommodations, please inform your counselor immediately. They will submit the request to the College Board for approval. Please note that the College Board, not WBHS, approves and denies all accommodations for standardized testing.

At this time, registration is open for all students for the entire 2024–25 testing year. All deadlines expire at 11:59 p.m. ET, U.S.
