Chamber Choir

Chamber Choir is an SSAATTBB select choir. This choir specializes in Chamber and Classical Repertoire. Placement in this choir will be based on vocal ability and balance through audition. Sightreading at an MSVMA Intermediate level is MANDATORY. Students taking this course must demonstrate advanced vocal technique and music reading ability. Participation in school & community concerts as well as the MSVMA Solo/Ensemble, Festivals will be included as part of the course.

2019-20 season promises to enrich your life and musical experiences. As a Chamber Choir member, you have accepted membership into an organization built upon pride and commitment to excellence. With successful rehearsals and commitment to excellence by all members, there are many exciting opportunities to perform. As a representative of your high school and choral department, you have committed to high expectations for every rehearsal and performance. You have also agreed through contract that you will be dismissed from the shows if you do not meet your commitments. You are a member of Chamber Choir because you have committed to do your best to insure that each show is a success.

Rehearse your part of the songs at home. BE PREPARED. You are expected to know your notes and rhythms, and note the director’s notes. They can be found on your google classroom.

In order to insure Chamber Choir 2019-20 is successful, each member must commit to the following this summer:

Chorale

Chorale is a women’s choir. This choir will focus on three part women’s literature. Chorale will participate in MSVMA District and, if it qualifies, State Choral Music Performance as well as concerts throughout the year.

Chorale has been created to allow the women in the vocal music program a chance to develop choral singing skills in a positive environment. This choir gives more inexperienced singers the chance to be leaders in a choir and have a positive choral experience. This choir is open to women in the vocal music department. It is also open to women not in the vocal department by audition.

Concert Choir

Concert Choir is for students with prior background in singing and music reading at a High School primary level. This class includes work on developing sight reading skills, music theory in the preparation of classical to contemporary choral repertoire. Membership is with director’s approval only. Students will participate in solo & ensemble festivals, choral festivals and school & community concerts.

Laker Express

Laker Express is an SSAATTBB show choir. Laker Express is the WBHS Show Choir, an advanced performing group specializing in show tunes and a cappella vocal jazz. Placement in this choir will be based on vocal ability and balance through audition. Students taking this course must demonstrate advanced vocal technique and music reading ability. Participation in school & community concerts as well as the MSVMA Solo/Ensemble, Festival, and graduation will be included as part of the course.
