WBHS Student-Athletes Commit to Colleges

West Bloomfield High School hosted a College Commitment event on Feb. 7 for six student-athletes that plan to pursue athletics at the collegiate level. These six athletes are Deron Jenkins, Jackson Laird, Tre Shorter, Andrew Weiss, Christopher Williams Jr., and Tommy Wright Hodges.

Deron Jenkins plans to attend the University of Mount Union to play football. He is the son of Tongina Kennedy.

Jackson Laird plans to attend Valparaiso University to play football. He is the son of Maureen Linker and Patrick Laird.

Tre Shorter plans to attend Northwood University to play football. He is the son of Damicia Ware.

Andrew Weiss plans to attend Kalamazoo College to play baseball. He is the son of Daniel Weiss.

Christopher Williams Jr. plans to attend Bluffton University to play football. He is the son of Renee and Christopher Williams Sr.

Tommy Wright Hodges plans to attend Eastern Michigan University to play football. He is the son of Jennifer Wright.

Eric Piece, WBSD athletic director said, “We are extremely proud of the dedication and hard work that these student-athletes have exhibited over the years.  They have all made numerous sacrifices to achieve at the high levels demanded of them both in and out of the classroom. They are amongst the best that West Bloomfield High School has to offer and we are fortunate that they will always identify themselves as part of Laker Nation.  We are extremely proud of all of them and look forward to more wonderful accomplishments from them in the future.”
