Please be sure the enclosed BLUE (for Kindergarten), WHITE (for First Grade) (yellow for Second Grade)BUS CARD is completed and is attached to your child’s backpack or shirt, during the entire first week of school.  If your child is being picked-up by a parent, has specialized arrangements or will stay for Kids Klub, please write it on the card. Information will be mailed from the Transportation Department to your home as to the location and time of resident in-district routes.  If
you are a School of Choice parent and would like to request a shuttle, please stop by the office and pick up a request.  The shuttle busses are limited and are provided as a first come first served basis.
Please have your student follow the same transportation pattern for a few weeks before making changes such as visiting friends, etc. We anticipate busses will arrive home late at the start of school. You may be assured that your child’s safety is of primary concern to all of us.
The first two weeks of school we will see long lines and traffic congestion at our Drop-Off and Pick-Up areas.  We ask for your patience as parents and students become familiar with procedures.  Please review the enclosed map and become familiar with the procedures before the start of school. Thank you!
Also, we are all interested in a very basic issue: Student Safety.  The provision of a safe environment in which your students can learn is, and will continue to be, our first priority. We will continue to work to provide quality character education programs for our children to help drive home the meaning of the words respect, responsibility, caring, citizenship, trustworthiness, and fairness.  As adults, we can also remind ourselves that our adult behavior and treatment of each other and young people provides the most visible model for the behavior of our students.  For the good of all students, parents and staff members please review and follow this partial list of general safety procedures in place at Gretchko.
 All doors to the school will be locked throughout the school day.
 Please buzz at the front WEST door, wait for the door to be unlocked then enter.
 All adults entering the building are required to sign in at the front lobby.
 Drop off and pick up will be at the back of the building.  Please do not drop off children in the front loop.
 Late students, visitors and volunteers must park in the parking lot and walk their child to the office.
 Adults will wear a visitor’s sticker until they leave the building.
 Adults must sign out students from the office when leaving the building. (This includes the end of the school day).
 Parents should write out and send to school any transportation change so it may be recorded in the office.
 Students will not be dismissed from the classroom door.
 Students boarding busses will be escorted outside by adult staff.
 Students riding with parents will be escorted from the cars by adult staff during designated drop-off and pick-up times.

The welcome atmosphere felt at Gretchko would not be complete without the participation of our parents and their families.
We count on their support throughout all of our educational efforts.  We are hoping to see you at as many school activities
as possible.
