West Bloomfield had Schools of Choice openings for 2026-2027 into our STEAM program for grades 9-10.

Testing date: As needed, on an individual basis
WBSD offers STEAM as a K-12 specialized criteria-based program. This programming is also offered to residents. Residents must meet the same criteria as Schools of Choice applicants in order to be accepted into the STEAM program. According to Section 105 of the State School Aid act, preference will be given to Schools of Choice applicants that meet criteria and have siblings in the district.

STEAM- Schools of Choice
Criteria-based STEAM programs for Schools of Choice for 9th-10th grade
Please submit the following:

Report Cards for Semester 2 must be submitted as soon as possible.

Most recent Benchmark Assessment: Winter 2026 or Spring 2026 NWEA MAP Growth Reading Assessment, iReady Diagnostic Results Report, or Renaissance Star Reading. Similar assessments accepted as well.

Discipline record/log entries must be submitted as soon as possible

Expectations for Schools of Choice STEAM candidates include the following:

Oakland County resident

Strong grades in the four major content areas (Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science)

A positive discipline report, with no suspensions

A strong score on approved benchmark assessment: NWEA, iReady, Star
STEAM Assessment
All applicants will need to submit their most recent Benchmark assessment from their current school.

Oakland Early College

If you are interested in applying to Oakland Early College, they have a different admissions process. Families are asked to do the following:
1. Submit the Pre-Application
2. Set-up a Family Meeting
3. Schedule a Final Interview
4. Submit the Formal Application
5. Attend Final Interview

West Bloomfield School District (WBSD) is participating in Schools of Choice Section 105 for the 2025-2026 school year. "Section 105" means that applicants must reside in any of the 27 Oakland County school districts, other than the West Bloomfield School District. WBSD does not accept applications from residents who live outside of Oakland County.
