OCHD Emergency Order - Aug. 24
On August 24, the Oakland County Health Division made the following factual determinations and issues this Order pursuant to the Michigan Public Health Code.
THIS ORDER is effective immediately and remains in effect until community transmission for Oakland County is categorized as “Moderate” by the CDC for at least fourteen consecutive days, or until further notice from the Oakland County Health Officer.
2021-22 School Year
The following COVID-19 Mitigation Guidelines and Strategies for the 2021-22 school year were developed and discussed by school administrators, Board of Education members, and public health officials.
These plans must remain fluid, allowing the district flexibility to adjust based on the status of in-school and community transmission of COVID-19.
Changes to these risk level protocol changes will typically take effect within TWO school days.
COVID-19 Mitigation Guidelines
The West Bloomfield School District intends to offer five full days of in-person, face to face instruction for the 2021-22 school year. This document details the District’s strategies for the mitigation of COVID-19 in support of that plan. This plan must remain fluid, allowing the district flexibility to adjust based on the status of in-school and community transmission of COVID-19.
The following plans are based on guidance from the Oakland County Health Division (OCHD), Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), specifically:
Determining WBSD's Risk Level
WBSD will assess the district’s COVID-19 risk level based on rates of county-wide transmission (as detailed on the CDC COVID data tracker by county), as well as the local community transmission rate and the number of positive and probable cases of students and staff within the district. Each risk category (low, moderate, substantial, high) shall have a defined set of requirements and recommendations as detailed below. A change in the risk status of Oakland County will trigger a review with the Oakland County Health Division to assess whether the district should move from one risk category to another. The decision to adjust the risk level will be based on district specific positive cases and quarantine numbers, as well as data from the greater West Bloomfield community. When this occurs, notification will be provided through the district's website and communication from the Superintendent’s Office.
