After a comprehensive and rigorous search process, the West Bloomfield School District is pleased to announce two new leadership appointments. Mr. Eric Pace has been named principal of West Bloomfield High School, and Dr. Stephanie Griffin has been named assistant principal of West Bloomfield High School. The announcement comes following the March 23 Board of Education Meeting where Mr. Pace and Dr. Griffin were approved for the positions by the West Bloomfield Board of Education. Mr. Pace will assume the role of principal effective March 24 and Dr. Griffin will assume the role of assistant principal effective April 6.

Eric Pace, principal at West Bloomfield High School

Mr. Pace was hired into the West Bloomfield School District in August 2006 as a science teacher at Abbott Middle School. He then assumed the role of assistant principal at Abbott Middle School in July 2011 before his most recent position as assistant principal of West Bloomfield High School in August 2014.

In the spring of 2019, Mr. Pace was appointed to the position at WBHS of assistant principal of innovative learning design. In this position, Mr. Pace worked to advance teaching and learning at WBHS by coaching staff in their instructional practice, worked to develop and retain newer staff members, and led the efforts to develop 9th-grade instructional models to best support students in the early stages of their high school careers.  He also worked closely with the teaching and learning team and the department leaders to advance professional learning and utilization of student data to inform instructional practices.

During his time as assistant principal, Mr. Pace was also critical in the district’s development and rollout of the Portrait of a Graduate and the 4Cs (Collaboration, Contribution, Communication, and Critical Thinking) including creating rubrics and instructional strategies. He also has been instrumental in the development of the student ambassador program and direction of the school improvement team at West Bloomfield High School.

Mr. Pace graduated with his Bachelor of Sciences degree in education with an emphasis on the secondary level in 2006 from Central Michigan University. He then earned his Master of Arts in educational leadership in 2012 from the University of Michigan Dearborn. Most recently, Mr. Pace earned his Education Specialist certification in educational leadership in 2015 from Oakland University.

Dr. Stephanie Griffin, assistant principal at West Bloomfield High School

Dr. Griffin joins the West Bloomfield School District after serving in a variety of instructional and administrative positions in her previous school districts at both the public and private levels, including Detroit Public Schools, Detroit Charter Schools, and the Education Achievement Authority.

Dr. Griffin began her career in education in 2009 as an English teacher at University Prep High School in Detroit.

Dr. Griffin most recently served as an assistant principal with the Detroit Public School Community District. Her career journey has included positions such as testing coordinator, instructional leader, behavior dean, Section 504 coordinator, IEP compliance, dual-enrollment coordinator, extended day administrator, and SIS administrator. She has also served as a master teacher/IB coordinator, curriculum coordinator, and department head.

Dr. Griffin excels in the arenas of both staff and student engagement. Her connections with staff have yielded fewer staff openings in the buildings she’s worked in and her approach to student wellbeing resulted in improved attendance and discipline rates across the board.

Dr. Griffin graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism in 2004 from Michigan State University. She earned her Master of Arts in educational leadership in 2014 from Eastern Michigan. Most recently, Dr. Griffin earned her Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Central Michigan University in 2020.

Dr. Gerald Hill, WBSD superintendent, said, “We were fortunate to be in the unique position to add two tremendous educational leaders to the openings we had in the WBHS administrative team. These hirings will help to solidify an already extremely capable team of leaders. We anticipate the leadership of Mr. Pace and Dr. Griffin will immediately be put to use by our high school students and staff for this school year and beyond. Welcome to Team WB!”
