Take A Glimpse Into Our Classrooms Webinar - Oct. 29

Members of the Teaching and Learning team presented a webinar to families on Oct. 29 to give our community an opportunity to get an idea of what instruction looks like both in-person and remote in our district.

July 2020 Update

Our Classroom to Cloud Return to Learn teams have continued to refine our plans for the 2020-21 school year through ongoing planning, keeping student and staff health and safety at the forefront of our decision making along with making sound instructional decisions for students. The teams have also received feedback from staff and students regarding our instructional model and its impact on learning.

We are now proposing the following updates to our Return to Learn Roadmap for 2020-21:

Mi Safe Start Phases

Remote Only

In the event the district transition to online only instruction for all grades, the resources below outline daily schedules and expectations for instruction:

Canvas 101

The district's instruction and technology teams hosted a special Canvas 101 webinar for parents on Aug. 20 related to the district's new learning management system, Canvas. The slideshow presentation from the webinar can be found below:

*Please note that the West Bloomfield Canvas site is not yet live for students and parents.  Once it becomes available, we will let students and parents know how to access their classes.

Return to Learn Roadmap

As you are all aware, Governor Whitmer shared her “MI Safe Schools: Return to School Roadmap" in early July. This plan was developed in partnership with educators, legislators and public health officials to ensure the safety of students, staff and families as we eagerly look forward to the start of the 2020-21 school year and the return of in-person instruction.

Cloud Care

New to the district for 2020-21 school year is Cloud Care, an opportunity for families in need of additional childcare offerings during the half of the school day that their student(s) are not participating in in-person instruction.

The district and school Classroom to Cloud (C2C) planning teams have met weekly since mid-May to carefully plan for our Return to School and, where feasible, in-person instruction. The Governor’s Return to School Roadmap, which aligns with the Mi Safe Start Plan, has been the driver in our decision-making, along with the feedback we have received from our staff and families. We are making the following recommendations to our Board of Education regarding our West Bloomfield School District C2C Return to School and feel confident the plans are reflective of and responsive to the needs of our community.
