Mrs. Sheryl Hauk

Mrs. Sheryl Hauk is currently the Choral Director of West Bloomfield High School and Fine Arts Curriculum Coordinator of West Bloomfield School District.  In addition, she has served as an adjudicator and section leader with Jr. National Music Clubs, National Piano Guild, and Michigan Honors Choir programs. She has served as a clinician at the Michigan Music Conference and MSVMA Summer Workshop sharing her knowledge of technology in the Choral Classroom.  Mrs Hauk grew up in Hawaii where she sang in All-State choir  for 4 years and won the  American Choral Director’s Award.  She received her Bachelor’s from Baylor University , attended both from Marygrove College and Oakland University for a Masters, and MSU for post graduate work in choral and vocal music. Mrs. Hauk’s choirs have performed at the New York City Jazz Festival, Detroit Piston, Red Wings,  and Tiger Games, Gold Company Festival, PBS “I Believe” Shoa Requiem Premier, Disney Jazz Festival, Ethan Bortnick, Rochelle Jazz Festival, Chicago's Shed Museum, Southeast Michigan Urban League Distinguished Warrior's Dinner, and many other local, state, and national performances. Most Recently Laker Express has been recognized as Distinguished Scholars in Vocal Jazz at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival in 2013 2014, and 2015. Laker Express was named to perform in the MSVMA Michigan Music Conference Specialty Hour for 2018 and 2019. Sheryl Hauk was named Grammy teacher of the Year Quarterfinalist in 2018, as well as a Grammy Legacy Nominee in 2019. Mrs. Hauk serves as the music and orchestra director of  WBHS musicals that include numerous award-winning alumni, including Ryan Irons of Fox's "Star" and  Mark in "Rent's" 25th Revival. Most importantly, she would like to recognize her family Steve, Calla & Michelle , Mathew & Tatiana, Ben ,  Drew  , and Grandchildren Brandon and Ayanna.
