BIO/LIST OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Alycia Chase is a professional educator with over 14 years experience teaching grades 9-12.  She strives to breathe life into the curriculum that she teaches and strongly believes in exposing students to real world experiences.  She has the unique background of having worked as a Trial Attorney prior to teaching and has practiced both criminal and civil law.  She is a member of the Michigan, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Bars.  At West Bloomfield High School Ms. Chase is the sponsor of Law Club, Model UN, the Close Up Washington, D.C. Trip, Block by Block Student Exchange Initiative, and the Teen Court Program (where students are the actual attorneys and jurors for real District Court juvenile misdemeanor cases).  She has also coached the Mock Trial Team, is piloting a hybrid/blended learning AP course and is the U.S. History PLC Leader and a member of the Oakland Schools C4 Cross Curricular Common Core Research Writing Initiative Team.  In addition, she helped to write curriculum for the Oakland Schools MC3 (Michigan Collaborative Civics Curriculum) program and has been a presenter at the MCSS Joint Conference for the last two years.  She was selected by her district to participate in the Galileo Leadership Academy and was honored to be chosen by Oakland Schools as a member of the Oakland Schools Social Studies Leadership Team.  This year she also had the added honor of being nominated for and chosen as the Michigan High School Social Studies Teacher of the Year.
