Dr. Joe Brandell

I am beginning my 39th year in education, and my 31st at West Bloomfield High School.  Currently, I am the Mathematics Department Chairman, a position I have held since 2001.  In addition to my work for West Bloomfield Schools, I am also a Lecturer at Oakland University, where I teach graduate students in the School of Education and Human Services.  Finally, I also present for the College Board to AP Calculus teachers at regional, national, and international conferences.

I have had several publications in the areas of teacher mentoring, processing student discipline, and mathematics education.  My current research explores the impact of poverty on underserved populations in schools.

I enjoy the outdoors, and will be kayaking inland lakes at every opportunity.  I also enjoy camping, hiking, and snowshoeing.

If you are a student of mine, please access Google Classroom for current assignments and course materiuals.  You will receive an access code in class.  The 2018-2019 School Year is going to be amazing!!
