Ms. Colleen Miller

Colleen Miller has been the Physical Education Teacher at Green School/Sheiko Elementary since January 18, 2000. During her time in the West Bloomfield School District, she has accomplished many things and held several titles:

-Elementary PE Curriculum Chairperson

-Helped adopt the EPEC(Exemplary Physical Education Curriculum) for the Elementary level

-Elementary PE Coordinator


-Fuel Up to Play 60 Program Advisor

-Received a grant from the WBEF for a program called “Pedometer Power”

-Participated for 8 years in Oakland County’s  “Count Your Steps “  Program initiated by Oakland County Executive  L. Brooks Patterson for the.  During that time, Green/Sheiko always finished in the top 5 in the county.


On a personal note, Ms. Miller was born in Huntington, N.Y., but moved to Daytona Beach, FL at the age of 9.  After graduating from Father Lopez High School in Daytona Beach, Ms. Miller went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University.   From 1994-1997, Ms. Miller worked at St. Malachy Catholic School in Tamarac, FL. And, in 1997, moved to Michigan and worked as a PE teacher in the Pontiac School District. In January of 2000, the opportunity to work in WBSD came up, and Ms. Miller happily accepted the position.  In 2003, she earned a Master in the Art of Teaching degree from Marygrove College in Detroit, MI. Ms. Miller has enjoyed watching the students grow, some of them from infancy, to active, happy pre-teens.  Ms. Miller prides herself on making a comfortable learning environment for children of all ability levels.
