Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Laurie Brown
Welcome to Third Grade! My name is Mrs. Brown.
I have a bachelor degree in Elementary Education from Baker College and I am pursuing my Master of Teaching Degree with a concentration in reading and literacy at Marygrove College. This is my 7th year in the West Bloomfield School District. During that time, I have taught first, second and third grade (at Ealy, Scotch, and Roosevelt). Before I became a teacher, I volunteered in my own children's school, was Room Mom and was a PTO member. Those experiences have helped prepare me for being a teacher and have made me sensative to the needs of students as well as parents. Being a teacher is a reposibility that I take very seriously. I want to teach students to believe in themselves so they feel empowered and prepared for life.
I live in Clarkston with my husband, Doug. We have two children, Ryan and Callie and one granddaughter; Sage. We also have a dog named Ollie who entertains us daily. He loves to go for long walks around our neighborhood.
My favorite hobbies are reading and traveling!
Third graders get to do a lot of fun STEAM activities. We do a lot of exciting things in 3rd grade, as we all learn and grow together!
