Ms. Kelly Rothe
My name is Kelly Rothe and I am a teacher for the Cognitively Impaired at Orchard Lake Middle School!
I am a graduate of West Bloomfield Schools. After West Bloomfield, I went on to Eastern Michigan University where I double majored in Special Education Cognitive Impairments and Theatre Education. This is my 3rd year in the district and 2nd year at OLMS. When not teaching, I love performing in community theater shows, reading anything I can get my hands on, cross stitching, cheering on the Detroit Red Wings, and taking care of the steady stream of foster dogs that are constantly going through my house.
As a teacher, I’m passionate about presenting lessons in a variety of ways to accommodate the many different learning styles that are in a classroom at a given time. I believe that children have an ingrained love of learning and it isn’t until students begin to think poorly of themselves that learning becomes a chore rather than a positive experience. I feel it’s my job as an educator to maintain that level of excitement that children are born with by making the classroom a fun, warm, and exciting place where students WANT to be, where we reward and praise even the smallest of achievements, where we support one another, and where we can celebrate our differences.
