Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Laura Lashbrook, Ed. S
First, let me say what a pleasure it is to work with your son or daughter! My goal is for my students to become complete, creative, collaborative and independent thinking lifelong learners. In addition, I strongly believe that parent/teacher communication is a key factor in allowing for meaningful academic and healthy socio-emotional growth. The self-efficacy of our children needs to be supported both at school and at home. During your child's school day, I am here to deliver all of their necessary skills to become successful in the everchanging world we all live in today.
I have been an educator for 20 years now and have worked for the West Bloomfield School District since 1999. Throughout my years spent in WB, I've worked amidst various school settings, supporting diverse learning styles as well. Specifically, I have taught at our alternative high school, Oakland Early College, WBHS, and OLMS. Currently, I am an English teacher at both WBHS and OLMS. In the morning, I can be contacted at the high school. Next, I commute to the middle school and may be reached there.
Educationally speaking, I earned my Bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University, my Master's degree from Wayne State University and my Education Specialist degree in Reading, Language and Literature also from WSU. In the fall of 2016, I began to further my educational studies and research in Special Education at Oakland University. I am presently working on an ASD graduate degree at this time. Last but surely not least, I am a mother and life coach to two wonderful children. My son, Josh, is 15;and, my step-daughter, Morgan, is already 21!
