Your child will be participating in a reading incentive program called “100 Picture Books” for students in kindergarten. This program features a list of 100 pre-selected picture books and is a program made possible through the West Bloomfield Township Library.
On Friday, December 4, your child will attend the “100 Picture Books” Kick-Off Assembly led by their Information & Technology Specialist. At the assembly, students will learn the dynamic titles of the 100 books. Your child will hear about the specifics of the program and how they may earn stickers for each book read.
The program will run from December 4, 2015 through April 1, 2016. Students are encouraged to read (or listen to) as many of the books on the list as possible. Due to varying reading abilities, the books may be read to, with, or by your child. When your child has finished reading a book, please help him/her fill out this form and give it to his/her teacher.
When your child receives credit for reading a book from the teacher, he/she will receive a sticker to place on the classroom chart. As a special culminating event, all students will be invited to an assembly in March to meet author Sarah Weeks.
Your child can check out the books on the “100 list” from their classroom library, their school iCenter, or from the West Bloomfield Township Public Library.
We encourage you to promote the program in your home and share the magic of reading with your child!
