Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Doherty!

As the principal of Doherty Elementary School, I am excited about the opportunity to collaborate with the Doherty community as we work together to provide a safe, encouraging place where all children learn, laugh, and grow together into lifelong learners. At Doherty, we are genuinely passionate about education and are committed to building strong relationships with students, caregivers, and the entire school community. Open communication and collaboration are essential to creating a positive and successful learning environment, and we are eager to work hand-in-hand with each of you.

This marks my third year as principal of Doherty and my 12th year in public education. Before my time in West Bloomfield, I was a first, fourth, and fifth-grade teacher in the Northville School District. Outside of the classroom, I served in many different leadership roles and have coached several sports teams.

Outside of my work at Doherty, I am a proud husband and father. My wife Nicole and I have three beautiful children. When not at school, you'll find me spending time with my family at home, on a golf course, or somewhere on Lake Michigan.
