Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
3 Years - 5 Years
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) is a specialized classroom program designed for children transitioning from our Early On program who require continued special education services beyond the age of three. It also caters to children whose pediatricians, parents, or family members have concerns about their communication, social/emotional, fine motor, and/or gross motor skills, which may be delayed compared to their same-aged peers.
ECSE operates as a half-day program, running from Monday - Thursday in most weeks. However, there are occasional weeks when students attend all five days. The morning session is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the afternoon session runs from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
If you suspect that your child, between the ages of 3 and 5, may benefit from special education services, please reach out to the Child Find Coordinator, Joy Oetjens, at joy.oetjens@wbsd.org or (248) 865-3291. If your child is already part of our Early On program, you can discuss with your child's Individual Family Service Plan team to determine if ECSE would be a suitable option for your child.
