Dear West Bloomfield Summer Learning families,
Following Governor Whitmer’s recent announcements related to masks and the re-opening of our state, we wanted to take this opportunity to share our procedures for in-person Summer Learning. In accordance with the Oakland County Health Division’s recommendation, we will be continuing to follow the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Operational Strategies for K-12 Schools. This guidance includes universal and correct use of masks and maximizing physical distancing.
Concurrently, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued a recommendation on June 25 encouraging school districts to continue to implement mitigation measures to reduce disruptions to in-person summer learning and protect those who are unvaccinated at this time. This recommendation supports our current mitigation strategies.
We will continue to follow the guidance for our county and state health officials as new information becomes available. We will communicate any updates or changes to our policies in a timely fashion to our summer learning families.
Thank you for your grace and understanding as we work to create a safe learning environment for all of our in-person summer learners, staff members and families.
Dr. Gerald Hill
