The safety of our students and staff is our priority. We will provide updates and resources in an effort to help families reduce the risk in their home and community.
We are prepared to transition from the classroom to cloud-based learning during this closure, for the safety of our school district. Our instructional staff have and will continue to develop their skills and lesson plans to provide instruction to our students within an online environment.
Continuity of Learning and Cloud Learning
As a result of COVID-19 and the closing of school buildings for the 2019-2020 School Year, school districts must submit a Continuity of Learning and COVID-19 Response Plan (“Plan”) in order to continue to receive state aid for operations. Although schools are closed and not providing in-person instruction, teaching and learning must continue. Michigan educators have been called to provide our students with continued learning.
Please find the district's plan, application, approval letter and resources linked below:
Supporting Cloud Learners
In the West Bloomfield School District, transitioned our teaching and learning online through Cloud Learning beginning on March 16. It is our goal each day to do what is best for kids and we believe keeping the pathways to education open for our students fall directly in line with that objective.
We are encouraging our educators and staff to find ways in which we can involve students in relevant and engaging learning that fosters creativity and imagination, and that helps students gain the confidence and competence to address personal, community, and global issues in collaborative and resourceful ways.
Designing systems that provide meaningful engagement in the learning process through cloud learning means enables the West Bloomfield School District to ensure student learning is continuous and ongoing outside of the four walls of a classroom.
Parents & Guardians
Parents and guardians have a role in supporting learning when it occurs in the classroom as well as when it occurs in the cloud.
Our students have the responsibility to attend school a daily basis and show their learning in different ways.
As we officially make a temporary transition from the classroom to the cloud, we are happy to share that our Food Services team has fully developed a plan to provide lunch to anybody under the age of 18, regardless of their city of residence.
