RAP - Reading Appreciation Program
Over thirty years ago, Abbott and Orchard Lake Middle Schools inaugurated a very successful Reading Appreciation Program (RAP). In partnership with the West Bloomfield Township Public Library, RAP is designed to encourage our teens in grades 6-8 to read quality literature. Our list consists of books that will appeal to a wide range of interests and reading abilities. Students can select a title not on the established RAP list to read for RAP credit. Students must have approval from their ELA teacher in order for a book of their choice to count for RAP. They will be expected to demonstrate comprehension for each book they read by completing a specific assignment given by their ELA teacher.
RAP runs from October 8 - May 24
Rap Kick-Off is on October 8. Information will come home that day. Books will be available for checkout at each school's iCenter and at the main & Westacres branch of the West Bloomfield Township Public library.
